Special Delivery

I love newborn babies.  There is something so special about a BIRTH day.  A new life, that first cry, the appearance of those wrinkly little fingers (and fingernails).  Those early weeks of life with a newborn are amazing, exhausting, full of emotion and wonder.  In honor of a very special baby that's scheduled to arrive tomorrow, I came across some baby trivia facts.  Check out #5!  Here goes:
1. How much did the lightest baby at birth weigh? 10 ounces
2. How much did the heaviest baby at birth weigh?  24 pounds (OH MY GOODNESS!)
3. What are the most surviving multiple births for one pregnancy? 8 babies (HOW DO THEY KEEP TRACK?)
4. How old is the oldest documented mother? 66 years
5. What is the largest number of children born to one woman? 69 children, in the 1700's, a Russian peasant woman gave birth to 16 sets of twins, 7 sets of triplets and 4 sets of quadruplets. (I hope she had a good Mother's Day!)
6. How big does the uterus get during pregnancy? 500 times its regular size
7. How many diapers does an average baby go through in one year? 7,500
8. How many steps will the average toddler take in one minute? 176 steps
9. How many other people does the average child share his/her birthday with?  9 Million
10. What can a baby do up until 7 months that an adult cannot? Breathe and swallow at the same time

Congrats to Heather, Matt and Emma, who are about to welcome their new baby BOY into the world!   We cannot wait to meet him!

  2. Oh, I have a passion for new babies, too! I love them more than anything. I'm pretty sure that's how I ended up with so many children.

Congrats to the new parents! I hope you'll share a picture!
