Motherhood is a process...

Feeling a little bit blue these days as we're fast approaching my girls' 7th and 3rd birthdays.  It's mostly utter disbelief that they are growing so quickly. Constantly changing, slipping right through my fingers.

First up, Riley...
I remember the day she came like it was yesterday.  7:26am, on a beautiful Sunday, Mother's Day!  The whole experience was peaceful....quiet and dare I say easy?  Piece of cake.

Next up, Sydney...
The doctors told me to walk to make things progress a bit, but that was the wrong advice.  The doctors said, "don't worry, everything is fine!"  Again, the wrong determination.  She came into the world on what had been a warm, beautiful Thursday at 10:19pm.  A scary, emergency c-section...a little more of a challenge!

They were both exactly 5lbs, 14 ounces and early.  Perfectly sweet.  I knew I loved both these girls but had no idea how much I would love, I mean love them.  I guess that's why I feel sentimental and emotional every year as we inch towards the double digits....

I remember when I was pregnant with Riley, I read a quote that said, "Making a decision to have a child--it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body."

So, so true!

  4. What a great post. My oldest daughter was also born on Mother's day (three weeks early via c-section). She is one of the two best gifts I have ever received - the other being my youngest:)
