Cherry Berry Crisp and Picking Worker Bees
It was a hot and sunny day when we decided to head off on our annual CHERRY PICKING adventure. It's definitely the picking that we look most forward to because the orchard is full of the sweetest, ripest fruit. The season is super short - ours only lasts a week or two but we managed to catch it this year and because it was so hot, we had the orchard to ourselves!
Luckily, I had my "worker bees" ready to help!
After picking (and sampling), the girls discussed this years harvest while Mama pulled them to our next adventure...
RASPBERRIES! Huge and ripe!
We have been feasting on a lot of fresh berries - this is the best time of year. We also made this delicious treat!Cherry Berry Crisp -
2 cups blueberries, raspberries and cherries
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon all purpose, unbleached flour
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
Topping -
2/3 cup all purpose, unbleached flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oats
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons of chilled butter, cut up into small pieces
Berry picking is SO much fun! I went blueberry picking last year with some friends and had a blast. I love the picture of your older girl pulling the younger one in the wagon.
