Newman's Own Organics and a Giveaway!

Have you heard of Newman's Own Organics?  A great company that has certified organic goodies grown on farms without artificial fertilizers or pesticides.  They offer a wide variety of delicious products and snacks including cookies, popcorn, pretzels, dried fruit, mints, royal tea, soy crisps, Fig Newmans, chocolate bars and even pet food!  Formally part of Newman's Own, Newman's Own Organics became its own seperate company in late 2001.
We were lucky enough to sample some of these delicious products this past Summer.  Here's what we thought about our favorite picks....
The girls really never fancied dried fruit in the past but, these were different.  I ran out of fruit one morning and opened these to serve along with their morning fare.  They were suprisingly a hit.  Moist and tasty, these tasted like dried apples - sweet but not overly sweet and chewy.  The girls gobbled them up quickly and I felt great about feeding them these since they are 100% organic and made without sulfates.   They are versitle too - I even added them in a salad mixed with chicken, walnuts and dried apples recently, perfect for Fall.  What I love most is that they aren't sugary or fake tasting they taste natural and the girls kept asking for more, a win-win in my book!  We also enjoyed the tart Newman's Own Dried Organic Apricots, which I put in a yummy trail mix and the Newman's Own Organic Raisins.  Did I mention the fun shape?
Next, we were thrilled to sample some of their delicious cookies, our favorite?  The Newman's Own Organics Ginger Newman-O's.  To look at this cookie, it is similar to another very popular cookie but appearance is where these similarities end.  The ginger cookie is slightly spicy and sweet.  It's well balanced, a "grown up" cookie that is perfect to dip in some nice hot coffee this Fall.  I highly recommend giving these dunk a try.  I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to sitting out on my deck on a chilly fall day watching the kids play in the backyard while eating these and having some coffee.  Yeah, I've given this a lot of thought.  They're that good.  Of course, if ginger isn't your thing, they have other varieties that you can check out here.
Sydney also really enjoyed their newest addition, the Ginger Snap Cookies.  They were sweet with a hint of spice, and crunchy!  Here she is, at our cottage in Cape Cod after a day at the beach.
Up next....their chocolate.  Rich, creamy and delicious, I loved the Orange Dark Chocolate so much that the bar vanished much quicker than it should of - all for the love of the health benefits, right?
Nell Newman, co-founder of Newman's Own Organics, had this to say about their chocolate bars...
"The chocolate used in these bars is some of the best we've ever come across. Carefully selected organic cocoa beans and other fine ingredients were used to produce a line of chocolate with richer flavors and a creamy, smooth texture. In recognition of this exceptional product, we are paying a premium above and beyond the market price for organic cocoa beans."
Available in traditional milk, 70% dark, mocha milk, expresso dark, orange dark, dark and super dark, they have a variety to satisfy chocolate lovers.  Smooth, rich and creamy, this bar means business.  Read more about these delicious treats here
Lastly, we sampled the Newman's Own Organics Alphabet Cookies.  The girls loved these!  Fun and different, they enjoyed digging out letters, making words and spelling their names.   We sampled the Cinnamon Graham and they did not disappoint.  Perfect for little hands and paired with some sliced apples or oranges, I felt good giving my girls these yummy cookies.  More "fun" than traditional animal crackers, these have the added health benefit of cinnamon and yummy cookie - cracker taste.   They also come in chocolate and arrowroot!
Be sure to check out Newan's Own Organics the next time you are lucky enough to spot them.  Give them a try!  I feel great about buying snacks from a company that supports organic farmers and offer good food.  You can even print out a coupon or two here and give their products a try!

Newman's Own Organics have been generous enough to also send one lucky Barefoot by the Sea reader a few of their products, just to try!
