One Fun and Productive Summer!

Last Summer, our vacation time seemed to fly by.  We were busy but had several lazy days with nothing major planned.  This year, I decided to try to get ahead a bit and ask the girls for their input.  Together, we created a "Summer Must Do" list to incorporate what each of them wanted to do.  In addition to that, I decided to get a jump on our Summer reading and checked out books for us to enjoy for (at least) the first two weeks of vacation.  Finally, I created a list, with the help of a friend of goals that I have for the girls to accomplish through the Summer.  I don't want to hear, "I'm bored" so this list will ensure they have fun and educational activities that will keep their bodies and minds moving all Summer long.  Here's a look at some of the things we have planned!  Oh, and the Summer library reading programs in our area are great so those are a must as well!  Of course, we'll have plenty of free time that they need but this will also give them some structure so they'll avoid having nothing to do!
Of course, no Summer would be complete with some chores!
What do you have planned this Summer?

  1. Those look like great ideas! And I love the fact that you wrote it all out on a big poster. I think I might have to do this too...although my handwriting is not nearly as nice. Perhaps I will do cut outs instead :-)

  2. My kids love Newcastle Beach! Lots of beach time this year as we didn't have any last year. We might just have to try to catch some fireflies, it was their first time seeing fireflies just a few nights ago and they were so excited. C even went to write a little report about them.
