A few words about Boston

I came across this after reading it at  Lusa Organic, check out her amazing blog here.  I absolutely love this quote and feel that now more than ever, it needs to be shared.  SLOW DOWN.  FEEL.  BE.

Such an important reminder to all parents, grandparents, caretakers!  Monday's events in Boston really hit me hard.  Boston is "my city", it is so many people's city.  So many have a connection there.  I grew up in Massachusetts and spent my first 22 years there, I saw my first play in Boston, I bought my first Beastie Boy t-shirt there, I discovered my love of Newbury Street an an early age, Logan Airport, the Back Bay, Duck Tours, the Aquarium, so many warm Summer days spent at Fenway, college visits, delicious restaurants and fun places to visit.  It will be forever changed.  This is not the first act of terrorism on US soil nor will it be the last.  But for me, this one feels different.  My cousin ran in the marathon on Monday, as did my childhood best friend and a friend who was in our wedding.  This one hit hard, attacking us on Patriot's Day, a day that the citizens in Boston honor and value.  I don't have answers and so many people have better things to say about this subject but I do know this:  This makes me hold onto my children a little tighter, have a little more patience, and realize that I am LUCKY to be a parent, it is a gift, a priviledge and one that so quickly could be taken away.

  1. Thanks for this, Jess....a good reminder to us all. These acts are so senseless and difficult to deal with - it's hard to feel safe anywhere. Like the Sandy Hook shooting or the Aurora shooting or a spa shooting that took place in Fall a mile from our house..... I am reminded, each time, that there are no guarantees in life. NOTHING can be taken for granted. Enjoy those kiddos! :)
