Sheep Herding!

A couple of weeks ago we headed over to the oldest family fair in our state: The Deerfield Fair.  Our favorite part of the day was when we were able to see a sheep herding demonstration.  It was adorable, amazing and so much fun to see how these dogs take control of these animals.  The farmer was just as amazing, able to command his dogs to do what he intended.

First up:  A little sheep herding success!   I love how the little goats in the background just took it all in...little did they know, they were next!
The border collie was able to get all those sheep plus the goats in that tiny fenced in area in the center of the ring!  Quite impressive!
Lastly, the rebels of the day...this flock of ducks.  They just cracked us up.  Chattering in a group, running together away from the the farmer and the dogs...
Until the border collie snuck up on them!
It was amazing to see how these animals interacted with one another and how three border collies worked together towards their goal.  Sometimes I wish adults could do the same ;)! It was a fun day at the fair with this event being the highlight!  We also got to see giant pumpkins and visit the cows, horses and pigs.  It was a beautiful Fall day!

On the way home, we stopped for fresh apples and cider.  A family day and a great one!
