Very Scary Dollies: It's Retro Monday!

In the town we used to live in, there was this old house and in each and every window, there was a different strange looking doll in the window.  We started to call it the "devil doll house" because each of the dolls had a certain...look on their faces.  Imagine my surpise when flipping through my Family Circle, circa 1982:  I found the source of at least a few of those little dollies!

Now say what will about American Girl Dolls or Baby Alive but I think that this doll looks just as scary!  This one is looking for a squeeze or something more sinister, I'm not sure which!  Which leads me to this next retro ad that is certain to bring me a few nightmares.  I really hope that they don't greet me in the middle of the night!  Scary little babies...at least they are better with their crocheted ensembles!

What are your thoughts on the dolls of days gone by?  Am I alone in thinking they are a little...creepy at times?

Happy Retro Monday friends!  Welcome to the very last week of APRIL!

  1. I used to see many of those...I believed those Kewpie dolls were Japanese dolls, did not know they were from America! The "devil house" may have a rare collector's dolls :D

    1. I think you're right but they have little scary faces, almost like clowns!

  2. I agree... creepy! I have heard about a house in the town that I work in, where the owner has a doll (a creepy one) in every window of the house. The house is next door to the hospital too. Something weird about the whole thing, so I don't drive by!

    1. I would definitely steer clear of that house! No trick or treating there for me ;)
