Slime (Easy Crafts)

We've been cooped up all Winter long.  It's cold, it's snowy and it's been too cold to go outside and actually enjoy the snow.  What's the purpose of Winter again?  We are looking forward to days when it's warm enough to go sledding or just to be outside.  It's a sad state of affairs when we consider 25 and sunny to feel like a heat wave!

I wish I was kidding.

Anyway, back to the SLIME.  Sydney brought this home from school and I had to share it.  It's easy and strange!  I was really surprised with the consistency of this interesting substance!  The mix will start to solidify but but when you start to roll it and play with it, it turns to slime!  So weird and fun, especially for the younger set!

Slime Recipe
  • 5 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons food-coloring
  • measuring spoons
  • small mixing bowl
  • stirring spoon
  • Spoon cornstarch into bowl

Add a little food coloring to the water, then add to the cornstarch mix.  It should be difficult to stir, even when the water and cornstarch are fully mixed.

To use slime: spoon a small amount of slime from the bowl and place it in your hand.  Try rolling it into a ball or sausage shape.  See how it changes when you squeeze it!

This is a great Winter activity!

  1. We made this a few years ago. So fun! I actually blogged about all the good things about winter today, but I would say it's from a "Midwestern" perspective. I can't imagine being trapped inside THAT long. Yesterday and today were too cold to do anything :( so I totally know what you mean about looking forward to a nice 25 degree day.

  4. It's nice to have someone handy similar entertainment for children in particularly cold winter days!

Would you like to follow each other? I'd be so happy! :)

  5. I love the colors of your slime! Great indoor fun! Oddly enough, I saw a similar recipe the other day for slime/goo and they were using it for cleaning? Still not sure how that was supposed to work... I would just end up playing with it!
