Soaking it all up!

You may or may not have noticed that I was missing last week. Sort of an uncommon occurrence for me in the blogosphere - to not post that I would be away for a bit but there you have it! We took our annual summer vacation to Cape Cod! This is a tradition we started over 10 years ago, when Riley was just a baby. We spend a week in one of the most beautiful places I've seen, there's just something magical about it for me.

When I was younger, my parents always rented a cottage in Cape Cod. Some years it was just the three of us, other years we went with friends but we always went. I have sweet memories of mid August afternoons playing at the beach with my family, late evenings and lazy mornings. I'm not exactly sure when my family stopped going, but it was likely at some point later in high school for me when I had more summer reading requirements and Athletic commitments. It makes me sad thinking about that, was it a conscious decision to stop going or did it's just not work out for us and then the tradition came to an end?

My husband and I were given a two night stay at the Chatham Bars Inn as a wedding gift. I remember having a weekend getaway and as both declaring that we would vacation here when we had children. Some dreams actually work out the way we imagine! We've been so blessed to be able to continue this tradition every year. This destination hold a special place in our hearts, so many memories, and we hope to continue making new ones as the years roll-on.

These last spectacular summer days maybe fleeting, but they will always be with us! With two full weeks of summer ahead, we plan to soak up every last bit!

  1. I miss the Cape! I haven't been there in so long and I miss it! We used to go a lot when I was younger. My kids never liked long car rides so we haven't been there with them in a long time. Our friends that live up there were just in for a special weekend and it made me want to go back and visit them even more. I think a Cape Cod trip is in our future!
