Decorating

What type of seasonal decorator are you? Do your decorations tend to stick around a bit after the holiday or do they get put away immediately? I started thinking about this over the weekend. We had a few more Halloween decorations this year since we had friends over to celebrate. Those decorations came down FIRST thing Sunday morning. No hesitation, I'm just the type of person who doesn't like things hanging over her head. I would rather have the decorations taken down in order to get ready for our next season or holiday.
In this case, I'm next event is obviously Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving has quickly become one of my favorite holidays because it's centered around family and a time to reflect on the things we're grateful for. It's full of sentimental reflection and a time when we can just be with those most important to us. That being said, I keep my November decorating fairly minimal but I still like to do something to transition away from the ghosts and goblins and over to a pretty pallet of browns, golds and deep yellows. Little touches throughout the house to welcome the new month while keeping it simple and low key. This type of decorating makes it easier for me to transition to Christmas decorating, when we tend to do the most and really transform our home!
All this to say, I'm looking forward to all of the decorating the next few months bring. It's nice to give the mantle a little special attention and transform the house a bit to celebrate the season!
Have you started decorating yet?

  1. Very cute mantel, Jessica! I have had my fall decor up since mid September and it is all pumpkins so it should get me through Thanksgiving without a lot of fuss.

    1. I think easy is key this time of year when everything else is so busy!

  2. I was the same way as you were! We had a party on Halloween and the next day I was taking things down and ready to move to Thanksgiving decorating. It took me a few days to get the Thanksgiving things up and arranged (not that I have a lot, I was just taking my time). I do like this transition time between Halloween and Christmas. I love your decorations!

    1. Thank you! I feel like Thanksgiving time is a bit slower with regards to the decorations :) next month is when we really go over the top!

  3. The older I get, the less I decorate! I tend to decorate more for "fall", and then for Christmas. I wish I still decorated for all the holidays, but time and energy are not on my side!

    1. I hear you! There's never enough time for all the details but I do force myself to go over the top at the holidays, I know the kids love it and so do I. It's worth the effort! :)

  5. Hi,
    Wow, I love the turkey.
I also like to take time to decorate for the seasons and holidays.
We will decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.
