Hiking

Summer means more opportunities to go hiking in our area, something that we absolutely love! I do love that there's so many places in our area to hike, we aren't far from the White Mountains which are breathtaking, and living on the coast definitely has its perks! Don't get me wrong, I don't like of trail that's too challenging but I do enjoy the peace and serenity up being in the woods with my family on a lazy summer afternoon. In fact, a couple of weekends ago when everyone was just irritable, we hopped in the car and went to a nearby hiking trail we had yet to explore. Suddenly, the bickering stopped and we just were outside, taking in bits of nature. It's funny how that happens, when you step away from the house that "needs" to be cleaned, the TV that "needs" to be watched or the electronic device that "needs" to be played with, I can't help but thinking we're missing out on all the great things to take advantage of in our immediate area.

For us, summer is about a staycation for the most part. We do travel to Cape Cod for our annual trip but other than that, we try to spend time at home and explore what's in our neck of the woods.

I think that your home state always offers something, new opportunities, new places to visit, yet sometimes we neglect to see all that's available around us! Get out there and enjoy it!

Happy Weekend!

  2. This is why I love Oregon. You don't have to leave the state to do anything, really, and we all know it (which is, sadly, why I think so many people keep moving here - stay away, it's already too full here, ha!). There's the coast, the mountains, both for woods and for snow. There's desert-ish lands out East, and I dunno what else you could want to see, really. Even if you're not in PDX, where most people think is the center of it all, you can go down the I-5 corridor and get the same thing near Eugene, though the drives are a tad bit longer from there (different mountains and different beaches, though, obviously).

  3. You are so right.
We try to do the very same. And you can not beat nature!

My friend who is a counselor for teens, shared with me one of the top 10 addictions right now with teens, is technology. They can not stop! Scary.

  4. The couple hour trips, to just "reset" and relax are so often the best! We've found many local places we were never aware of by doing those trips.
