Chocolate Dipped Bananas

Even though the weather has cooled down a bit for us here in the Northeast, I wanted to squeeze out one more simple, frozen treat post. I featured Banana Babies in the past (chocolate covered frozen bananas)...so good! I decided to give it a shot and make my one. The trick with these is to make sure that your bananas are ripe and that you freeze them before you attempt to dip them in melted chocolate. You also have to work fast, as the chocolate hardens quickly on a frozen banana. The end result though? Yummy and good!
Ingredients
3 bananas
1 cup melted dark chocolate
Toppings of your choice: coconut, almonds, sprinkles, whatever you like!

Directions
Peel and slice your bananas in half, and insert wooden skewer in banana. I used straws, which didn't hold up too well.
Wrap each banana in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 2 hours

Heat chocolate
Unwrap bananas and carefully dip in melted chocolate
Sprinkle topping over

Delicious and good, my kids were giddy to see I was making these! My chocolate hardened too quickly and I couldn't add toppings. Guess I'll just have to make more!

Happy AUGUST 1st!

  1. I've always wanted to try these, but could never justify the work for them, ha! I wonder if using something like the magic shell ice cream topping would be easier to use? It would still harden, but maybe not as quickly?

    1. You could try that too. I do think that a quality dark chocolate is probably better for you but the magic shell might be worth trying!

  2. I think I only know one recipe with bananas and that's banana bread. You are always so good at coming up with healthy snacks and treats.

  5. Those look so good!
From some other recipes I have read, I wonder if adding some coconut oil would give you a little more time to work with the chocolate?
