It's not BBQ

But, it's pretty good!  We tried these pizza balls after reading the recipe over at Weelicious earlier in the week.  Healthy, easy, good?  We're game!  Best of all, my mini chef was eager to help!  No, not your usual 4th of July fare but perhaps this would be a nice item to put on the list for next week, after all our weekend festivities are behind us?

Ok, so here is the offical recipe for Pizza Balls and here is my quick version of what we did:

First, we chopped up a bunch of veggies we had - brocolli, fresh spinach,  zucchini, you can pretty much use whatever you'd like on a pizza.
Then, we added our sauce and cheese to the mixture and mixed it all together - yummy!
Rolled out our whole wheat dough and divided it
Riley topped each piece of dough with our filling (we used a scoop for this, which is kid friendly!)
Then we rolled these into Pizza Balls
Repeated and placed in a pie plate greased with olive oil
Bake and enjoy!
A healthy alternative to the usual fare, packed with veggies and a hit on this end!

Hope you all enjoy your 4th of July with family and friends!
and oh, by the way, it's July 1st.  How did that happen?
