Easy Crock-pot Applesauce!
My assistant and I decided to make some applesauce the other day. So easy and tasty, this will be a Fall staple for certain. For those of you who make this all the time, I'm a slow learner but now I'm convinced! For the rest of you - here's the recipe!
Get yourself some juicy, fresh apples from your orchard - buy local if you can!
I used 6 large apples, peeled and cored.
Coat your slow cooker with non-stick spray and throw add apples in (this is a great job for the kiddos!)
Squeeze juice of 1/2 apple in, being careful not to include the seeds.
Add 1 teaspoon (give or take a couple shakes) of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Add a 1/2 cup of water and cook for 6 hours and stir occasionally
This was a huge hit - fresh, easy, delicious and so much better than anything you could buy at the grocery store! Enjoy!
Hmmm, I've never made applesauce. This is so easy, I'm going to try it! I have a perfect helper, too! (Yours is adorable!)
ReplyDeleteLove making applesauce! And my family might like yours more with the brown sugar added :-) I do mine straight up...although I do add a little cinnamon. Oh, and if you have organic apples, leave the peels on and pick them out later, it gives the applesauce a lovely pink color :-)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm! Looks soo good!!!!
ReplyDeleteYUMMMMM!! I will have to try this. Maybe it will get my daughter to like applesause again!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. FYI, your directions say squeeze 1/2 apple, not lemon. Saving this to use soon. Thanks for sharing.
