Lemonade Stand!

This past weekend we took full advantage of the beautiful weather and had an impromptu yard sale to move some of our junk treasures.  My little entrepreneurs took full advantage of the opportunity and ran a lemonade sale.  It was a hit and they sold out quickly!  The first batch of lemonade was made the old fashioned way...from scratch and for a little added flavor, I froze a bunch of strawberries the night before which kept their jug cool and colorful.  I would highly recommend just freezing strawberries, raspberries or peaches for a little pizazz - we got tons of comments on it and it was simple way to make regular 'ol lemonade more exciting.
We also baked up some banana bread and some muffins.  In the end, the girls had a very successful day and enjoyed the socialization and beautiful weather.
Old Fashioned Lemonade
Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups white sugar
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
  • FROZEN BERRIES FOR ADDED FLAVOR!
Directions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  2. Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.  Poor into pitcher, add frozen fruit or ice.
  3. Enjoy!

It was a fun day!

My boys love to have lemonade stands when we do our yearly garage sale. It's so cute! Will have to include frozen berries next time - great idea!
