Wire Fairy Tutorial

The other day Riley was determined to make herself a fairy.  We brainstormed and came up with a simple, wire fairy which she proceeded to play with for hours.  It was an easy, fun project that produced a whimsical fairy.
Materials needed:
  • Wire (we used a simple floral wire to ensure we could easily bend it)
  • Large button (for the face)
  • Fake flower petals
  • 4 small beads
  • Embroidery floss for hair, shirt
  • glue
With your wire, assemble your fairy's body.  You need two pieces of wire, to form a sturdy body.  From there, slide a bead up the two legs to secure and then slide each of your flower pedals up the legs to make her skirt.  Secure with a final bead so that they will stay in place.  We also glued the bead to ensure it wouldn't slide down.

Glue your button face securely and let dry for an hour.  Decorate your fairy (this was the fun part) with the hairdo of your choice and face if desired.  We used embroidery floss to wrap and create a bun effect but we also made another for Sydney (the "wild doll" we name it) with her hair down.  We also wrapped embroidery floss around the dolls neck to create a purple top and secured beads on the bottom for shoes.  Anything goes!
The finishing touches included flowers on the fairy's hair and on top of the fairy's shoes.
This was a fun craft that really allowed their imaginations  to soar!  This would also be a cute gift topper or handmade gift!
