Old School Ads: It's Retro Wednesday!

Anyone who has read my blog for a while knows how much I love things of the past!  So, when the library had their annual booksale and there were some vintage magazines to snag, how could I resist?  I actually find some great, basic, make-from scratch recipes that my family has enjoyed, read some cleaning and practical tips and enjoyed looking at the "old is new again" fashions.  Still, these magazines are so entertaining for me, I just love reading articles, reader questions and looking at the advertisements from the past.  I had to share a few!  These are from the November 1952 issue of Family Circle.

First up:  This ad for Wrigley's Gum!  When I spotted it, I read it outloud to my husband: "When Out Shopping for your family, see what a big hit you make by bringing home the delicious treat..."  Riley, who is a little obsessed with gum right now exclaimed, "Well, it's true!" from the her room.  If only a pack of gum would cure all ails!
I remember the Green Giant from the '80s was a little odd but I don't think I ever spotted this strange, smiling giant with a straw hat back then.  I'm also not sure if I'd be running to eat my peas and corn if he was serving it up!
Next, bring on the creepy kid and doll!  After I spotted this child, I had a nightmare!
Lastly, Princess Precious talks...but I'm not sure if I want her to!  This may warrent night #2 of a bad dream.  I know that little girls have loved their dolls for decades but after seeing some of the options, I'm not sure why.
Then again, I'm certain that those little girls, now all grown would be mortified to see the dolls our children are exposed too!  I guess I'll take the old school dolls afterall!

Happy Wednesday friends!
