Strength in the tough times.
Life is busy. Life can be full of the unexpected.
Have any of you seen the stories on the news this past month about both a husband and a wife that were diagnosed with cancer within a couple weeks of one another? I first saw the story on The Today Show one morning, all ready to hear about the usual morning "fluff", watch Martha Stewart whip up a Springtime craft, maybe catch a new recipe....they have a story about a sweet young couple, recently married, successful and living in Brooklyn.
Here's how the story goes: Nathan, 38, gets diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer (on Valentine's Day, of all days). 9 days later, Elisa, 36, gets diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. They have an 18 month old. They have the weight of the world on their shoulders. And, they are sick...both sick, very sick. Yet, they manage to get up every day and pick their heads up and get on with it. Elisa writes a thought provoking and honest blog where she writes about everything from their illnesses, to chemo, to potty training and a little bit of everything in between. She is candid and real.
In no way can I fully explain how much this story touched me, put things into perspective and made me appreciate my life a little more. Join me and support this sweet family as they fight to get through this together. Check out FamilyBONDing Time here.
Appreciate each and every day!
