Worth a Trip - Storyland!

We made our annual trip to Storyland a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time!  Anybody from the Northeast area, may be familiar with this little park, which has been operating since 1954.
(There's apparently a leprachan who lives in that tree)
One of the things we love so very much about this park is that it's very clean and spread out.  Even on its most crowded days, you can always find a quiet place to rest or an attraction that doesn't have a long line.  In fact, we went in the park's busy season but rarely had to wait.  The rides include favorites such as the Polar Coaster and the Bamboo Shoots along with their newest attraction, Splash Battle and old favorites like Turtle Twirl and the Tea Cups.  Yes, some of the rides have been there for a long time but they have continued to maintain them and it actually enhances that nostalgic feel.  Over the years, we've heard so many people say that they went to Storyland as a child, brought their own children and now, their grandchildren.
(He's not aware of the camera or anything)
The park includes many playplaces and areas for kids just to do that.  There is a large water play area called the Oceans of Fun Sprayground and smaller play structures including a huge treehouse, slides and areas for the littlest ones.
(Ms. Sydney being serenaded by the singing bamboo)
They also have Storybook Animals to visit, including the 3 Little Pigs and Baa Baa Black Sheep.  We spent A LOT of time with these animals and of course, stopped to visit Humpty Dumpty and the Old Woman in the Shoe (who scared Sydney a little).
(Enjoying a tractor ride!)
The park offers scattered gift shops throughout but you don't feel that usual materialistic push that you usually find at these types of parks.  They also offer the usual "fair food" along with healthier options such as salads and grilled chicken wraps.
(These little doors kept them playing for a long, long time)
Adding to the reasons to check out this destination, is that this park is nestled in the Washington Mountain Valley and right next to beautiful North Conway, NH.  This area is full of trendy and delicious restaurants, shops, art galleries and The Cupcakery, where they have Almond Joy and Sunshine cupcakes, just to name a few.
So, we will definetely be recommending this lovely little park to friends and will be returning in the years to come.  I am certain these will be memories we will look back on with heartfelt fondness.  Be sure to check out Storyland if you are in the Washington Mountain Valley of NH.  It's a great destination for those of you looking for a getaway from Maine, Massachusetts or Connecticut!  There are a lot of reasonably priced hotels in the area as well!

  3. I used to take my kids there when they were small. I had forgotten all about the park. Thank you for the reminder; I must take my grandchildren!
