Valentine's Day...It's Retro Monday!
I was pretty excited when I found the February 1958 issue of Good Housekeeping which had a plethora of ideas to celebrate with your sweetie.
I did notice, most of this issue was devoted to giving the ladies advice as to how to make your man's day as happy as it should (this apparently includes making rich pastries and making him a tasty hamburger....)
It also included, as always, ways to slim down before the big holiday with the "Wonder Diet"...
For anyone wondering, the wonder diet includes grapefruit and black coffee....every morning...
I also found an advice column for the gentleman in your life outlining How To Kiss A Lady's Hand.
My favorite two parts are "NEVER KISS A LADIES HAND IF SHE'S UNDER 18!" and "DON'T JUST KISS THE PRETTY GIRL'S HANDS - UNATTRACTIVE WOMEN LIKE TO HAVE THEIR HANDS KISSED FROM TIME TO TIME AS WELL!"That's great news for all us "Josie Grossies out there, Good Housekeeping had us covered...even back in the day.

I'm not going to lie, that hamburger picture grossed me out first thing this morning :-) But, I love the bit about kissing a lady's hand!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that article on how to kiss a lady's hand is cracking me up! It's so funny how different things are today and really, 1958 wasn't that long ago! I guess times change pretty fast. I wish men still kissed women's hands :)
