Easy Bunny Silhouette and Craft Time!
Easter has snuck up on us this year, it's early! I always like to do seasonal crafts with my children and they seem to enjoy working on various projects that really celebrate the upcoming holidays. It's a great eductional opportunity as well, to discuss the true meaning behind what we are celebrating and each holiday's history and origins.
Our local library recently sponsered a "Peep Show", a contest where you construct a diorama around the book of your choosing. Both Riley and Sydney were eager to participate, each choosing their own book and making their vision come to life. Oh and they had to use Peeps of course.

"Beauty and the Peep"
"Tangled Peeps"
Both girls were very determined when it came to their visions. Sydney drew a giant potato on the left side of her diorama. Now, I don't recall them growing potatoes in Rapuzel but she was adament she needed that garden in there.
They also each wanted an Easter decoration in their room: nothing major but something that would be festive. We settled down on our snowday to make our simple silhouette bunnies.
Materials needed:
Cardstock or scrapbook paper
Ink
Cotton balls or any decorations you want to use
Directions -
Draw or trace your desired bunny shape
Cut out the shape
Finish with decorations - cotton balls, eyes, etc.
I love using scrapbook paper because it often is double sided with different patterns on each. This means that if they make a mistake or want to have a different look you can simply have two decorations in one!
Simple, quick and kid friendly. Our kind of craft!
Very fun! Emma is counting down the days until the Easter Bunny visits...which I think was magnified by my letting her watch "the Guardians" - excellent movie by the way :-) Love the bunny craft! Emma has been drawing rabbits all over the place...in her notebook...in my notebook...on my grocery list - you get the picture!
ReplyDeleteThose are really cute! What a fun idea. Easter really is early this year. I can't remember the last time it was in March!
