Fairy Festival

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend our local Fairy Festival.  It was a beautiful day and the perfect outing to share as a family.  We had only gone once before, when my oldest (now 9) was 3.  So, this was a fun activity that the whole family enjoyed.
If you've never heard of a fairy festival, basically it's a time when little ones decend upon the town dressed as fairies or sporting their fanciest wings.  Local schools, artists and residents enter their best fairy houses and compete for small prizes.  These houses are truly creative and amazing.  It was the perfect place for us to go, since my kids love to make fairy houses.  They came home with new ideas and a new appreciation for the talented people who spend hours making these amazing fairy houses.
This event is big in our area, and draws about 4,000 people to the town.  We saw over 50 different fairy houses, toured our local historic area and houses, looked at the beautiful gardens and foliage and enjoyed this perfect Fall day.  We even spotted some bee houses and bees and played a little croquet.  I love that we live in an area so rich in activity and unique fun!
It was a wonderful fun day for us.  These are the days memories are made of!
