The nice thing is, most of them drop to the bottom of the dryer as you pull things out, making it easier to leave them in there without having to dig.  They are scent free which I like but if you are used to having a scented dryer sheet, you could add a few drops of lavender or lemon essential oil onto each dryer ball.
