Kitty Cat Condo (Easy Crafts)
My girls are quite generous, right down to their kitties. So, I was not the least surprised when they decided to make their cats a climbing structure for Christmas. They planned and saved pieces for it in early December. They sketched it out, assembled it, painted it and decorated it. Finally they hid it and delivered it on Christmas morning. I didn't actually think the kitties would use it but I have to admit they LOVE it! One or both of the cats are always in this structure. There are three spots to sleep on: bottom, middle (where you see Pumpkin) and the very top. Originally designed to be the Kitty Castle, this structure is sturdy and well loved!
Materials Needed:
- 3 Sturdy cardboard boxes (large, medium and smaller) that can be stacked on one another easily.
- Scissors
- Heavy duty glue or epoxy
- Paint
Directions:
- Cut large square shaped opening on the large and medium size boxes which will be your base and middle section. Make sure the opening is large enough for a cat to get inside.
- Cut a castle top but still ensure it's deep enough so a cat could get inside
- Attach the largest box (base) with glue or epoxy to the medium size box. We have one opening facing the left, and one facing the side which ensures further stability.
- Glue the top piece in place on top of the medium box and allow to dry overnight.
- Paint and/or decorate to your liking and allow to dry again, overnight.
- Fill holes with small kitty beds or blankets.
- Cats love small, confined spaces so it doesn't surprise me that they enjoy this structure. Best of all, it's super easy and inexpensive to make!
Cute!
