Thrifty
The beautiful weather has got me dreaming of new clothes and outfits. Unfortunately, my budget doesn't match my desire buy a bunch of new things. If you're a mom, I'm sure you can relate! Often times, I prioritize my kids who are obviously growing and need new clothes over myself. If you see me sporting the same t-shirt I had before I had my oldest (11 years ago), that is why! I simply can't justify spending much on my wardrobe when they need things and we need items for the house.
I have been reading the blog, Our Life in a Click for a while now and she features a thrifty Thursday column where she shows off her thrifty finds. I'm talking about beautiful, name brand clothing that's seasonally appropriate. She has been an inspiration for me and her encouragement couldn't have come at a better time! So, I figured I'd see what I could find and I did pretty well! We are lucky enough to live in an area that is sprinkled with some nice thrift shops. Here's what I found on my most recent adventure...
My hunt today was for tops mostly and I was surprised with my finds. Best of all, it was 1/2 price day so I scored it all for $5! I think I'm hooked :) I'll continue to share my finds as time goes on! It's something worth doing, especially if you life in a wealthier area where one persons trash is someone else's treasure!
Do you go thrift shopping? Any pointers you'd like to share?

- A Garnet Hill embellished pale pink tee.
- A pretty Gap marine blue tee with eyelet detailed sleeves
- An Eddie Bauer tee
- A funky tunic from Fresh Produce for my Mom
- A flowy Old Navy top for my Mom

I LOVE thrift store shopping! Going through my old blog I came across some series I did back when I first started where I created outfits from thrift stores inspired by clothes currently featured in the mall (or wherever) and then compared prices. It looks like you did well! Once you find some good thrift stores it can be addicting. It's probably a good thing that I have a toddler to keep me from shopping too much during this season of my life, but I will definitely check out that blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool series! Perhaps in your spare time you will do it again in the new blog!
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI think Heather is amazing at finding great clothes. I always want to go shopping with her.
I enjoy thrifting too. I do real well for my kids, but not me. I will not give up :-)
Carla
You did great, I love the blue :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carla! I was a fun find :)
DeleteI've never had much luck at thrift stores. I worry that someone else's junk will end up junk at my house too so I am a too picky. But I'm always impressed when someone finds the good stuff. Your shirts look super cute and you can't complain about $5!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, I think a lot of people feel that way. You're right though, even if these aren't perfect, for $5 at least I have some new gardening tops ;)
DeleteAww thanks so much for the blog shout out! I'm so glad I inspired you to go thrifting and you did SO well!! It is addicting!
ReplyDeleteI have such a hard time paying full price for clothing, especially since I have been losing weight. I do not want to spend $20 minimum on something I might only wear a handful of times.
ReplyDeleteI love thrift stores. The only thing I have learned is that just because they don't have something you like today, doesn't mean they won't tomorrow. Have to be patient and check back frequently :)
