Vacation Mode!
Half way through school vacation week! I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't jealous of friends away on vacations and getaways. Truth be told here, our winter hasn't been harsh at all so I don't have much to complain about. Still, the idea of heading somewhere tropical is appealing!
We've had a few day trips planned this week and my daughter took her very first skiing lesson! It was a hit! We were also expecting a little snow which we though would have been good because all four of us had plans to go cross country skiing but, now it looks like it's going to be 55 degrees and rainy. This week has been a relaxing one, free of and a mix of productivity, fun and family time.
I'm a planner so when I look ahead to Spring and early Summer, it's hard for me to grasp the fact that my oldest will turn 12 this year and my youngest will turn 8. Time flies with no chance of slowing down at this point! It seems that the older they get, the busier they get which means we have less time altogether. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled that they have a nice group of friends and lead active social lives. I'm so happy that they're involved and participating in activities and sports. At the same time, I miss the slower days very much, I miss the days of sleeping babies and simple crafts. Recently, I found myself looking at young mothers with babies in the grocery store or at Target. Some look so peaceful, others look overwhelmed but I can't help but feeling envious of those Moms. I said it a lot recently but if I could do it all over again, I would without question. The sleepless nights, the dirty diapers, I'd take it all in a heartbeat. That being said, I have loved watching my girls grow and change. I love spending time with them, I love their jokes and that they have grown into smart, inquisitive little ladies.
I've been enjoying this week as we've been slowing things down a bit and really get back to the basics. I think they crave that as much as I do sometimes! Although we won't be bonding at the beach, we will have a nice mix of activities and time at home. When it comes down to it, I wouldn't have it any other way!
Hope you guys are off to a great week so far!

DeleteGirl I can totally relate. First of all I am a planner too, second it's true that the older they get the busier things get and the FASTER time goes. It's tough. Enjoy your week. Our spring break is right around the corner here.
