I'm Back and it's the Wednesday Hodgepodge!
It's been a while, I know. I took an impromptu break. It wasn't planned, it wasn't on purpose and to be honest, I had good intentions. I would try out a new recipe and intend to post, I would take some great photos and want to share but then, after a full day of running all over the place, I just wasn't feeling it. I was tired. I was ready to relax and I just wasn't feeling it. So, I shut the computer off and hoped for a better day. Truth is, a couple days off turned into over a week! Do you ever loose your (for lack of better words) blogging mojo? I sort of lost it but now I'm back thanks to the Wednesday Hodegpodge. This introspective exercise helps motivate me to think and share. Plus, it's so fun to link up and read other's answers. Come join the fun!
1. ASAP typically stands for 'as soon as possible'. What else could it stand for in your life right now? Always Sitting Around in the car waiting for People. Does that count? I'm in the car a lot these days. Heading to school to drop off and pick up the kids, bringing them to activities and heading to work. Now my kids are busy with theater and gymnastics. It's a lot and I'm in the car the better part of the day lately!
2. Are you the last person to speak up in a group or the first to have an idea? Why do you suppose that is? Is it a good thing or no? I'm somewhere in between. I may have an idea right away but don't necessarily share it ASAP!
3. What do you remember best about being 12? That was the year we built our house. We moved in with my grandmother (Babci) and she lived right next to a farm. They had goats and all summer long I hung out with my goat friends, picked dandelions and rode my banana seat bike all over the place. It was fun and I felt adventurous. My grandmother's property was lined with blackberries so I spent hours in the July sun picking and eating. The farmer even let me pick rhubarb! Now my oldest daughter is 12!
4. January 18th is National Winnie the Pooh Day. Which character do you relate to the most, and why? If you're stumped go here for inspiration. Sometimes I'm a Tigger (especially after too much coffee), I get excited and enjoy running around and getting things done. Sometimes I'm an Eeyore because it's easy (especially in the doldrums of Winter) to feel sad or get down in light of what's happening in the world. Quite frankly sometimes, I'm Pooh. I do love honey! Honestly I think those characters are so relate-able because they are a little in all of us!
5. What's an app you use that helps simplify or make life easier for you in some way? I love my FitBit app, it holds me accountable.
6. San Francisco (CA), San Diego (CA), San Juan (PR) San Antonio (TX) Sanibel (FL)...you have an all expenses paid long weekend to one of these destinations. Which one do you choose and why? That's a tough one! I'd love to go to San Francisco...I've always wanted to ride the trolleys and visit Alcatraz. I think I'd pick Sanibel though, it looks amazing!
7. Share with us a song that makes you feel nostalgic? For what? Elizabeth Mitchell...I played her music into the ground when my girls were younger. Perfect for naptime, carrides and snuggles.
I could use some sunshine today! I hate these grey, rainy days!! I've definitely had times when I've lost my blogging mojo. The best thing is to take a break and get away from it, see if you miss it or not. I usually do and it starts coming back to me. I remember those days of spending SO much time in my car. I actually miss those days now! I love SF and Sanibel!
ReplyDeleteI know I'll miss them too! We have Lot she of laughs and some great conversations in the car! Here's hoping the sun is shining there today! Gloomy here yesterday as well!
DeleteAnd so glad you're back! I missed you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather!
DeleteHi Jessica! Welcome back! Not having little ones, I was not familiar with Winnie the Pooh or with your Elizabeth Mitchell. I took the quiz and got Owl. Still not sure what that means so I should look it up, I guess. Enjoyed the music! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteOwl is very wise (naturally) and everyone would seek his advice. Sounds about right!
DeleteAlways Sitting Around in the car waiting for People :D Ha ha, that one made me laugh out loud. Your hod podges are so fun to read!
ReplyDeleteIt was a stretch, I know. That one made me think!
DeleteWhat a fun post. I spend a good part of my time driving GRANDKIDS around...you see---it never ends (hoping that doesn't make you feel Eeyore like)-lol.
ReplyDeleteLoved your answers-even if you did skip #2!;) Hope you have a great night- xo Diana
Sound a like you have a great relationship with your Grandkids. I hope I always do as well!
DeleteSome times taking a break is the best way to get energized ~ especially when you're waiting for people in the car!
ReplyDeleteExactly Susan! I think the running around, back and forth takes its toll! Perhaps I need a dashboard computer- I can blog while I'm waiting! ;)
DeleteI had a banana seat bicycle, it was purple with sparkles and flowers on the seat :) Sounds like your summers were fun on your Grandma's farm.
ReplyDeleteI loved those old bikes - so fun.
DeleteLol... Your Tigger comparison gave me quite the visual of you bebopping around!
ReplyDeleteSomedays you do have to create your own sunshine, but today mother nature let the sunshine down on us, and it felt so good!!
I bet the sun felt amazing! Send some our way! :)
DeleteHi Jess,
ReplyDeleteTigger :-) I loved how you said after too much coffee. Cute!!
I missed you, glad your back.
Have a great week!
Carla
It definitely gives me more of a zip in my step!
DeleteI have never heard Elizabeth Mitchell's music but I can understand why it would be fun to listen to with children. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteShe had a beautiful voice, her music is peaceful, perfect for nap time!
DeleteI enjoyed your Hodgepodge answers, Jessica...especially your ASAP one :) I was visualizing your 12 year old experience in my head as I was reading it...sounds like a wonderful time in your life! And YES, I occasionally lose my blogging mojo....I think most of us do from time to time. Glad you found it again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting:)
DeleteEnjoyed reading your answers! The ASAP one was perfect! I have been there, both with kids and grandkids, and also with my elderly dad at appointments. (Thankfully he is in a nursing home now so they take care of all that.) Whenever I have had to wait for anyone, I bring something to do. It might be needlework, planning my menus, making lists, reading, sorting coupons, writing notes or letters. That way I don't feel that I am wasting my waiting time.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally I lose my zest for blogging or just can't think what to write about. Usually, though, it's time constraints that keep me from blogging. The Hodgepodge questions make a great jump start!
Those are some great multitasking suggestions, thank you!
DeleteI do not miss running here, there, and everywhere dropping off and picking up my 4 girls. At the same time, I do miss it. Ha! I always used that time for reading. Unless I was dropping the next one off before that one got out. It was a whirlwind for sure since no two of them had the same activities. My Fitbit held me accountable until I stopped looking at it. :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha about the FitBit! Maybe I should just "loose" it!
DeleteNor do I miss running around dropping kids off, picking kids up and on and on. Mercy! Don't know how my kids are doing the same thing now. Of course, they have their IPhones to entertain them while they wait. :o)) Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat point! Thanks for stopping in Lea!
DeleteMust be wonderful memories being on a farm at 12 ! My grandma lived near a farm too and the holidays I spent with my grandparents were the best ! I have visited Alcatraz years ago, it's very impressive !
ReplyDeleteYes, a farm is still my happy place, I'm guessing because I spent so much time there as a kid!
DeleteI sometime loose my desire to write from time to time. It's like my Bible study time. Sometimes I miss a few days, but I pick up where I left of and begin anew. And so it is with my writing. Thank you for your visit to my blog page. Until next time....
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
DeleteSometimes you need a little break to recharge, I'm sure you'll have a great recipe to share soon! Love your sharing of your stories.
